Hello guest
Your basket is empty
We are looking for passionate and self-motivated individuals who are interested in making positive changes to help young people in Hull.

Hours: Casual
Pay: £10.42 per hour
Length of employment: 2.5 – 5 year project.

What is the Peer Action Collective (PAC) and what does the role involve?

The Peer Action Collective (PAC) is a groundbreaking network of young people, aged 16-20, who are designing and conducting research about young people’s experiences of violence, turning their research into action, and leading on meaningful change in their communities. From campaigning to improve local mental health services, setting up a youth centre or supporting young people into employment – the PAC will create opportunities for young people to make their community a safer, fairer place.

All too often, young people who experience violence aren’t heard. But change won’t happen if young people aren’t at the heart of it. That’s why we’ve come together to give young people the chance to take the lead, so that they’re shaping the solutions they want to see in their communities.
As a member of the collective, you’ll be part of national project, working within a local team of young people:

Researching the causes of youth violence by talking to other young people about their experiences.
Reflecting on the experiences of others to understand more about what can stop violence affecting young people and their communities.
Building a movement of young people, who want to have their say and make lasting changes in their communities.

Is it for me?

The PAC is here to understand more about the lives of young people involved in, or at risk of becoming involved in violence and we are interested in working with young people who have perpetrated, are at risk of becoming involved in, or have experienced, violence.
If you are aged between 16 – 20, meet the criteria above and are interested in making a difference in your community through promoting the voice of young people, then this is right opportunity for you.

Do I need to have qualifications or experience?

We provide you with on-the-job training, so you don't need qualifications or experience to become a Peer Researcher.

How do I apply?

To apply for this role, please complete the attached form here. Once completed, please return the form to [email protected].

Anyone who meets the criteria above is welcome to apply. We believe that the recruitment a diverse group of Peer Researchers is vital for the success of the project and that having input from young people with a range of backgrounds and experiences take part will help us better represent the different individuals and communities. We know some young people are more likely to have real life experience of violence and want to hear from you.

We actively encourage applications from young people from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic groups, disabled young people (including physical disabilities, neurodiverse young people and young people with learning disabilities), young people from both urban and non-urban areas, and young people who are on the edge of care, in care or leaving care.

To find out more, please complete the Expression of Interest form below and a member of our team will be in touch.

Closing Date : 16th October 2023
Interviews: W/C 23rd October 2023

Safeguarding

We are committed to the safeguarding of children and adults living in our community and looking for researchers whose values match ours. We will provide you with clear and effective training to make sure you fully understand the safeguarding requirements of the role and you’re prepared to recognise, respond to, and report any concerns that may arise as part of your work. We operate robust policies and procedures, including safer working practices, to ensure the expectations are clear and you know exactly what to do to keep yourself and others safe.

The role is eligible for an Enhanced DBS check, which is funded by us. Only relevant criminal content which will put children and adults at risk, will be taken into consideration when appointing peer researchers.
