Since 1989, Stonewall have helped create transformative change in the lives of LGBTQ+ people in the UK.

According to a recent report from the charity, 20% of sport fans think anti-LGBTQ+ language is harmless if it is just meant as banter.

Across the next week, the Tigers Trust will be distributing rainbow laces across the city to increase visibility and awareness for the LGBTQ+ community.

These laces will be given to participants of the following programmes:

Premier League Primary Stars
Premier League Inspires
Premier League Kicks
Premier League Kicks Targeted

Richard Dexter, Head of Programmes at the Trust, said he is “delighted” to be able to support a campaign such as this.

“Being able to work alongside our funders and partners to increase visibility of the LGBTQ+ community is incredibly important,” he said.

“As an organisation, we have a responsibility to make sure all participants, staff and associates feel valued and proud of who they are.

“Equality, diversity and inclusion remain priorities for the Trust as we continue to challenge discrimination and celebrate differences.”
