The Tigers Trust have been proud to supply Hull City with participants from our programmes to provide Match Ball Assistance for the 2021/22 season.

This includes participants from our Premier League Kicks programme which has been running in Hull from September 2010 within the most high-need areas. The Trust’s Premier League Kicks sessions provide free football, dance and multisport sessions to young people across Hull and East Riding to inspire children and young people to achieve their potential and improve their wellbeing; working together to build stronger, safer and more inclusive communities, along with creating pathways for local young people.

The Match Ball Assistants volunteers also feature young people who regularly attend our Premier League Kicks Inclusive sessions.

Our inclusive sessions provide an inclusive sports environment to help support individuals who have additional needs and requirements. Millie Sharp, Tigers Trust Kicks Disability Lead Officer said:

“The Match Ball Assistant’s opportunity has allowed these young people the chance to continue to develop their communication skills and also build their confidence interacting with the crowd to get the ball back to the players. This has enabled them to experience the footballing atmosphere and I believe their confidence levels have improved massively since taking part.”

It’s not just young participants from the Trust’s Premier League Kicks programme who have helped out so far this season, the Trust has also provided participants from the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme.

All of these young people follow the pathway of Flynn Clarke who has now volunteered as a Match Ball Assistant across multiple seasons.

After first getting involved with the Trust in 2016 under the disability banner due to being profoundly deaf, Flynn has gone from strength to strength and acts as the perfect role model for anyone looking to help out as a Match Ball Assistant in the future.
