Tigers Trust proud to deliver sessions to children from the Showmen’s Guild across the duration of Hull Fair

 

The Showmen's Guild of Great Britain, organisers of Hull Fair, was founded in 1889 and is the principal trade association for travelling showmen. 

 

Over 70 children, aged 5-11, from families of the Showmen’s Guild attended the Tigers Trust’s Hull Fair School at The MKM Stadium both this week and last week. 

 

These sessions included arts and crafts activities such as designing football kits and creating flags, as well as a range of sports activities that were focused on communication and teambuilding. 

 

The final day saw the students receive a certificate for all of their hard work, presented to them by Chairman of the Yorkshire Showmen's Guild Michael Cowie and Vice Chairman John Breeze. 

Speaking about the Hull Fair School, The Trust’s CEO Catherine Bishop said: “We were pleased to be able to support the Showman’s Guild this year for the first-time planning and delivering the Hull Fair School, engaging and doing what we do well for the children who visit our City as part of the great tradition which is Hull Fair.” 

 

“We were able to provide a range of physical and creative activities to support their formal learning, demonstrating the power of what we do every day across our communities.” 

 

“I know it’s been a busy but hugely successful 2 weeks with lots of activity and we look forward to welcoming them back next year.” 

 

Chairman of the Showman's Guild Michael Cowie, showed his appriciation towards the trust during the event.“First of all, I would like to thank the Tigers Trust and all of the team for doing a fantastic job with the Hull Fair Showmens School.” 

 

“Hopefully, we can start organising early, to ensure the team have everything they require to have another successful Hull Fair Showmens School for 2023.” 

 

“Once again, myself and the Yorkshire Section Committee, along with the parents and children would like to extend our thanks for all the time and dedication the trust has put in to our children’s education.” 

 

The Tigers Trust would like to thank all of the children who attended the Hull Fair school for their excellent behavior throughout.
