Tigers Trust participants finish second in the Premier League Kicks Cup

 

The girls, aged 14-16, narrowly lost out in the final of the Premier League Kicks Cup after being beaten by West Bromwich Albion on penalties. 

 

Since it began, more than 440,000 young people have participated in PL Kicks football and multi-sport sessions run across 936 venues by 90 Premier League, English Football League and National League sides. 

 

Kahlen Watters started playing football at the age of six and has regularly attended the Trust’s PL Kicks sessions at the Tigers Trust Arena on a Tuesday evening (6-7pm). 

 

“It’s amazing to see that female football is starting to get the recognition and support it deserves through events like this,” said Kahlen. 

 

“The whole day was amazing and being able to share this experience with other girls of our age was fantastic.” 

 

The Trust’s Social Inclusion Team Leader Ellie Tanser travelled with the girls, and was impressed with how the group represented themselves on the day. 

 

“They were a credit to the club and their enthusiasm throughout the day was brilliant to see,” said Ellie. 

 

“The tournament was a brilliant showcase for female football in the build up to the UEFA Women's EUROs.”
