Hello guest

Rob Witham’s story with the Tigers Trust is nothing short of remarkable.

Rob first engaged with the Trust over seven years ago at our Tigers Together sessions and has since engaged in over 1,100 contact hours with staff members.

These weekly sessions aim to improve the mental health and well-being of those in the local community, and for Rob, they provided a safe place to play football following the sad passing of his child.

“When I first joined, I had no confidence,” Rob said. “I was going through some really bad stuff, I’d just lost a child and I was really badly depressed.

“I came to these sessions and got chatting to everyone. It became a place where I started to feel safe and the Tigers Trust have since got me through an awful lot.”

After a successful apprenticeship application in August, Rob now works on our Premier League Primary Stars programme in secondary school across Hull and East Riding. This programme seeks to inspire children to learn, be active and develop important life skills.

As part of our contributions to raise awareness for World Mental Health Day last Sunday, we got involved with Mind’s #DoOneThing initiative to surprise Rob.

We sent him a video featuring messages of support and congratulations from some of his favourite Hull City players who had recently become aware of his incredible story.

The video included messages of support from goalkeeper Matt Ingram and midfielders George Moncur, Greg Docherty, Randell Williams and Tom Huddlestone.

The Trust are incredibly proud of Rob’s journey so far and he’s an absolute inspiration to us all.

Thank you, Rob.
