Tigers Trust delighted to provide sessions to children from the Showmen’s Guild across the duration of Hull Fair

 

Founded in 1889, the Showmen's Guild of Great Britain stands as the preeminent trade association for traveling showmen, with Hull Fair being one of its flagship events. 

 

Over the two week duration of Hull Fair, the Tigers Trust's Hull Fair School at The MKM Stadium and Tigers Trust Arena played host to more than 60 children, aged between 5 and 11, from families within the Showmen's Guild. These sessions were thoughtfully designed to encompass an array of engaging activities, including arts and crafts, captivating reading and mathematical exercises, and a wide selection of sports activities with a strong emphasis on fostering communication and teamwork. 

 

To mark the conclusion of this valuable experience, the students were celebrated on the last day with deserving certificates, a recognition presented to them by the respected Chairman of the Yorkshire Showmen's Guild, Michael Cowie. 

 

Discussing the Hull Fair School, Catherine Bishop, the CEO of The Trust, expressed her enthusiasm, saying, "We were delighted once again to work with the Showman’s Guild to deliver the Hull Fair School for 2023." 

 

"The Trust team was able to use and adapt resources from our Premier League Primary Stars Schools programme and deliver a quality, creative and successful 8 day school to over 60 children every day using a mix of academic, sports and physical activity and craft activities. We know how important it is for the children to continue their learning throughout the fair period and feel honoured to be able to support this." 

 

Chairman of the Showman's Guild, Michael Cowie, conveyed his gratitude during the event, stating, “We were extremely satisfied with the school and how the Trust delivered it, they understand the needs of our children and we are looking forward to working together again next year.” 

 

The Tigers Trust wishes to extend it's appreciation to all the students who attended the Hull Fair School for their exemplary behaviour throughout the event.
