As part of our commitment to Black History Month, the Tigers Trust team conducted engaging workshops for children throughout the local community as part of their Premier League Primary Stars initiative.

The Premier League Primary Stars is a well-funded programme initiated by the Premier League, with a core mission of fostering enduring positive impacts in sports, health, and education for children, young individuals, and the broader community.

Black History Month stands as a nationally recognized celebration, dedicated to both highlighting and honoring the significant contributions made by Black individuals to British society. It also serves to cultivate a broader awareness and appreciation of Black history in its entirety.

During these workshops, participants delved into a historical journey tracing the evolution of Black History Month. They were also engaged in a variety of activities centered around pivotal Black figures who have left an indelible mark on history.

Marc Daddy, a member of the Trust's Primary Stars team, passionately advocates for the significance of incorporating Black history education into early childhood learning.

He said: It's really important that children understand why we celebrate Black History Month and what it means for our communities. These workshops have been a fantastic way to get across important messages about racism. All the children have been fully engaged and have had the opportunity to express their feelings on the subject."
