As part of their Premier League Primary Stars delivery, Tigers Trust staff delivered workshops to children around the area as part of our celebrations for Black History Month.

The Premier League Primary Stars is a Premier League-funded programme which aims to create positive and lasting sporting, health and education outcomes for children, young people and the wider community.

Black History Month is a national celebration that aims to promote and celebrate Black contributions to British society, and to foster an understanding of Black history in general.

Workshops have consisted of timelines around the history of the Black History Month campaign, as well as a range of activities that are based around pinnacle Black figures.

Will Corton, from the Trust’s Primary Stars team, says that he believes education around black history is important within early education.

He said: “It allows us to highlight the positive steps we have taken to combat racism, but we can also emphasise there is more to do in the fight against social injustice and how we are still campaigning today such as Show Racism the Red Card and Black Lives Matter.”
