The Tigers Trust were thrilled to host the 2023/2024 Premier League Inspires Challenge at the MKM Stadium yesterday, where students from secondary schools in Hull and East Riding engaged in a team-building project focused on building a mentally healthy environment within their football club.

The Premier League Inspires project works in partnership with secondary school students encountering obstacles on their path to realising their full potential, including challenges like low confidence, self-esteem issues, attendance concerns, or difficulties in social skills. The Premier League Inspires Challenge is an integral component of this programme and provides students with engaging social actions.

The day commenced with seven of our partnered secondary schools embarking on a behind-the-scenes MKM Stadium tour, offering students a glimpse into areas like hospitality suites, tunnel spaces, and home and away changing rooms, providing them with inspiration of the challenge ahead.

Following the stadium tour, students had the opportunity to cultivate their social action project based around building a mentally healthly environment around Hull City Football Club.

Each school dedicated two hours to brainstorming ideas with classmates and teachers, utilising tools like spider diagrams or PowerPoint presentations. The goal was to ensure their concept considered the Who, What, Where, When, and Why's of the subject matter, guaranteeing inclusivity and achievability for both team members and anyone associated with their project, all within the allocated budget they were given.

Each school presented their fantastic ideas to the judges, and after careful evaluation, The Market Weighton School emerged victorious!

Each team was then honoured with medals and a Tigers Trust drawstring bag and bottle, while The Market Weighton School received individual trophies for team members and an additional trophy for the school.

Every participating school should take pride in their hard work and creative ideas showcased during this event. As for The Market Weighton School, they are now set to represent both the Tigers Trust and Hull City, heading to London in the near future to present their ideas alongside other club community organisations (CCOs) who are carrying out the same social action project.

Well done all for creating a wonderful occasion!
