We are delighted to announce that Keane Lewis Potter has been awarded the PFA Community Player of the Year for the 2019/20 season. Keane has been recognised for his commitment to his community work and always going that extra mile off the pitch.
Keane has joined in with our community activities related to the Premier League Kicks programme, Tigers Trust Football Centres and our Hub School programme over the past year, initially as a scholar whilst at the Hull City Academy and more recently as a regular member of the Club’s first team squad. As a local lad he has a natural enthusiasm and interest in the work that the Tigers Trust carries out across the Hull community, having himself benefitted from the Trust’s work during his school years.
Our Chief Executive, Catherine Bishop said;
"Since I joined the Tigers Trust it has been a pleasure to welcome an increasing number of players at events and activities. Keane has shone on the occasions I have met him, his smile, his energy and genuine interest all reflected in his ability to engage positively with the young people we work with where there is clearly mutual respect as Keane is an ideal role model, therefore he fully deserves this PFA Community Player of the Year award"
We also caught up with Keane who discussed his award:
“Along with Tigers Trust, I’ve gone down a few times to join in and do a bit of coaching. I’ve been in that position myself, having players come and visit me when I was younger. I remember Jimmy Bullard and Ian Ashbee coming down so it’s nice to be on the other side of it and do it myself. It’s not just about being a footballer, it’s nice to go down and see all the people in the community. It’s just as nice doing things off the field too. I try to get involved as much as I can to help them out with the skills they need to learn and teamwork. I enjoy going out and working with other people.”
Thank you Keane for your continued support!
