As part of the EFL’s Week of Action, Hull City players Matt Ingram and Richie Smallwood joined a group of volunteers to help clean unwanted boots to be distributed to those less fortunate in the community.

Taking place at the Tigers Trust Arena, this boot cleaning initiative was planned by a group of girls who engage with the Trust’s sport sessions.

The girls wanted to highlight that sport is for everyone and that any barriers to participation, such as not having the right kit, should be eradicated.

Thanks to generous donations from Hull City, Hull City Academy, Umbro and fans who had seen the boot appeal through social media, the Trust had a large number of boots that needed to be cleaned ready for distribution across the community.

Alongside Ingram and Smallwood were participants from the Trust’s Walking Football sessions and the girls who had initially planned the initiative.

They spent just over an hour cleaning and drying the boots which are now ready to be sent across to both young people and adults in the community.
