A recent study from the Office National Statistics (ONS) showed that 2.6 million adults reported that they felt lonely ”often” or ”always” whilst 7.4 million adults reported their well-being had been affected through them having felt lonely in the past seven days.

Thanks to funding from the EFL Trust and the Department of Digital Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) we are able to start offering support to tackle loneliness in Hull and East Riding.

We have recently employed two Tackling Loneliness Delivery Officers, and have a dozen volunteers ready to kick start the programme and start making a difference to elderly members of our community.

The support can take many forms, and the team have come up with an array of ideas to help, which include:

  • Pen Pal Schemes
  • Bingo
  • Virtual Quizzes
  • Arts and Crafts sessions
  • Sport sessions

(Activities will be restricted at present due to Covid-19)

The team are not just limited to delivering these activities and are able to help collect shopping, pick up prescriptions and regular phone calls to participants of the scheme

Who's this programme for?

Men and women over the age of 55 that feel isolated or feeling lonely.
