Last week, students enrolled in the Tigers Trust’s University of South Wales degree programmes had an exciting opportunity to visit the Hull City Training Ground as part of their course—an experience designed to enrich their learning and professional development.

Delivered in partnership with the EFL in the Community and the University of South Wales, the Tigers Trust delivers a Foundation Degree in Community Football Coaching and Development. This course is accredited and delivered by the University of South Wales, with students graduating alongside peers from across the university.

Upon enrolling, students become part of the University of South Wales community, gaining full access to online learning materials while attending in-person sessions at the Tigers Trust’s dedicated classroom at the MKM Stadium.

Students also benefit from immersive learning blocks, spending a minimum of seven days per year at the University of South Wales High Performance Centre – the USW Sport Park – with full accommodation provided during these visits.

The recent visit to Hull City’s Training Ground began with a warm welcome from members of the first team, followed by a chance for students to observe various training drills. These sessions offered valuable insight into real-world coaching techniques, which students can now apply to their own coaching practice.

Following the training sessions, students had the joy of taking photos with the players and engaged in an inspiring Q&A session with Assistant Head Coach James Oliver-Pearce, First-Team Coach Tobias Loveland, and Hull City legend Andy Dawson. This interactive discussion explored diverse coaching methods, advice for working with different age groups, and the students’ own future aspirations.

A huge thank you to Hull City for hosting such an enriching visit, and to the coaches for generously sharing their time and expertise.
