Hello guest

The Tigers Trust was thrilled to host a special event for Tranby Park Care Home yesterday, providing residents with a memorable tour of the MKM Stadium.

In recent months, staff members Richard and McCauley have visited care homes throughout Hull and East Riding as part of our ‘Forever Tigers’ memorabilia and heritage fund, supported by the Premier League Charitable Fund’s Premier League Fans Fund. They have engaged with residents, sparking conversations through historical Hull City items, including matchday programmes, worn shirts, and unique collectibles.

We wanted to create something particularly special for Tranby Park Care Home, as they were the first home we engaged with on this programme, and the residents have always shown great enthusiasm during our visits.

A small group from the care home was invited to the MKM Stadium, where they were warmly welcomed with a delightful selection of sandwiches, sweet treats, and drinks. While enjoying refreshments, they had the opportunity to browse through additional historical matchday programmes, further igniting engaging conversations.

Soon after, the group explored the away dressing room and behind-the-scenes areas, where they discovered the names of every player who has represented the Tigers since 1904, right up to the present day. They then made their way down the tunnel, taking in the stunning view of the stadium from the home dugout while learning fascinating facts about the venue. This experience culminated in a visit to the Hull City dressing room, where a wonderful surprise awaited them.

Thanks to Les from Hull City Kits and the club's support, we arranged an impressive display of Hull City shirts from various eras, arranged chronologically around the changing room. This sparked lively conversations among attendees about the designs of these iconic shirts.

During our engagement with care homes, we have also been playing inclusive games, including boccia. To the delight of our guests, we all participated in an inclusive game of boccia in the Hull City changing room - a moment they will cherish forever.

As we wrapped up the day, a surprise knock on the door introduced us to Hull City legends Nick Barmby and John Hawley, who graciously took time out to visit the attendees. The residents eagerly asked questions about their favourite shirts and the players’ careers, before enjoying posing for photos and collecting autographs to take back to the care home.

A huge thank you to Les, Sue and Hull City for their invaluable assistance, as well as to Tiger Events for their warm hospitality.
