On Day 5 of #TrusteesWeek, we highlight Our Chair of Trustees, Sean Royce who is passionate about raising educational standards, aspirations and life chances for youngsters through sport.
Sean's current role sees him as the CEO of Quickline Communications which uses the latest broadband technology to bring fast, reliable broadband speeds to rural areas around Hull.
He joined KCOM in 1989 and has been at the centre of many of the company’s milestones including the launch of the world’s first commercial deployment of interactive TV and Video On Demand over broadband and the first all-you-can-eat internet packages in the UK. He was responsible for the company starting and completing its full fibre network, which now reaches more than 200,000 properties across Hull and East Yorkshire and is the UK standard bearer for world-class full fibre broadband.
Sean has worked with the football club, since its move from Boothferry Park in 2002, as a previous main sponsor of the then known KCOM Stadium. He has been on the board of trustees since 2010 and became chairman in 2018. He is a keen sportsman having played for many local clubs including North Ferriby Utd and is an ex-captain of Hull Cricket Club.
Sean was actively involved in the local business community and was director of the Centre for Digital Innovation (C4DI) and a governor at Hull’s Ron Dearing UTC.
Speaking about his role as Chair of Trustees, Sean said: As it does for all our Trustees, it starts with a passion for Hull City, a passion for our wonderful City and the chance to make a positive difference to people’s lives.”
Our CEO Catherine Bishop commented about Sean’s impact as Chair of Trustees: “Sean is a fantastic chair for the Trust and excellent support for myself as CEO. Sean’s local networks and experience help continue to move the Trust onwards and upwards, to ensure we continue to deliver safe and quality activities to support, active happy and healthy lifestyles; in turn generating huge social capital and opportunities across Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire. Thank you Sean.”
