The Tigers Trust was delighted to welcome students from ten partner secondary schools to the University of Hull for an engaging, inspiring, and truly memorable day of activities. The event offered young people a valuable opportunity to step outside their usual school environment and experience something new, motivating, and confidence‑building.
Delivered through the Premier League Inspires programme, the initiative supports young people who may face barriers to reaching their full potential. These challenges can include low confidence, low self-esteem, attendance concerns, and difficulties with social skills, factors that can significantly affect their overall development.
Working with 14 secondary schools across Hull, East Yorkshire, and North Lincolnshire, the Tigers Trust provides meaningful opportunities for students to strengthen these areas through structured, engaging activities both in school and within the wider community. This support helps students build resilience, develop a positive mindset, and feel more confident about their future pathways.
Throughout the day, students took part in a wide range of experiences designed to challenge, inspire, and broaden their horizons. A guided campus tour allowed them to explore the University of Hull, discover its facilities, and gain valuable insight into life in higher education. They also participated in team‑building activities led by the British Army, including problem‑solving tasks, coordination exercises, and collaborative challenges that encouraged resilience, teamwork, and communication in a fun and supportive environment.
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service delivered interactive workshops where students tried on firefighting equipment, explored a working fire engine, and took part in fitness drills that tested both their physical ability and determination. Meanwhile, University of Hull sports staff organised a variety of physical activities, including futsal matches and introductory squash sessions, giving many students the exciting chance to try a new sport for the first time and build confidence in a sporting setting.
The Tigers Trust extends its sincere thanks to all external organisations for their invaluable contributions in creating such an enjoyable, rewarding, and impactful day for students. Their support played a crucial role in making the experience both educational and memorable for everyone involved.
