The Tigers Trust was delighted to host the 2025/2026 Premier League Inspires Challenge at the MKM Stadium last week, bringing together partner secondary school students from Hull and the East Riding for an important discussion on mental health.
The Premier League Inspires programme supports young people who face barriers to reaching their full potential, such as low confidence, self-esteem challenges, attendance issues, or difficulties with social skills. A key part of this initiative is the Inspires Challenge, which encourages students to design meaningful social action projects.
The day kicked off with an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the MKM Stadium, including a visit to the newly refurbished matchday quiet room, an experience that sparked fresh inspiration for the challenge ahead
After the tour, students worked on developing social action projects aimed at improving mental wellbeing among young people.
We were honoured to welcome Councillor Ted Dolman, Trustee and NHS Group Head of Voluntary Services Rachael Hardcastle-Pearce, and Councillor Rob Pritchard as judges, who engaged with the students throughout the day. Hull City academy players Jake Hopper, Bobby Moore, and Charlie Leach also joined the discussions, offering their insights and encouragement, whilst enjoying answering questions from our young people.
Throughout the morning, students collaborated on flip charts and presentations, before showcasing their ideas to the judges. Despite some nerves, every group delivered impressive and passionate presentations. The winning team, from The Market Weighton School, stood out as winners with their peer mentoring project, demonstrating exceptional professionalism and creativity.
They will now represent the Trust and Hull City at the national event next year, sharing their progress and successes from the coming term.
