We’re thrilled to welcome Nicola Ollett as the newest member to join our Board of Trustees!
Nicola brings a wealth of experience in brand strategy and customer engagement through her role as Marketing Director at MKM Building Supplies. She’s excited to support the Trust in strengthening its visibility, storytelling, and connection with a wider audience — particularly as we aim to grow and diversify our impact.
We’re proud to have Nicola on board as she takes on a key role in helping us continue to create safe, inspiring spaces where individuals can truly thrive.
To help you get to know our newest Trustee a little better, we asked Nicola a few questions about herself.
What inspired you to become a trustee of the Tigers Trust and how does it feel to become a member of the board?
Having lived and worked in Hull for many years, I’ve always been aware of the positive impact the Tigers Trust has across our community. Its mission aligns strongly with my own values — using the power of sport and education to create real, lasting change. Becoming a trustee feels like a privilege and an exciting opportunity to give back to a city and region that means a lot to me.
What is your current role outside of the Tigers Trust and how do you feel this can benefit you as the role of a trustee?
I’m the Marketing Director at MKM Building Supplies, a company proudly founded in Hull and currently celebrating its 30th year. My role involves brand strategy, customer engagement, and working closely with teams across the UK to ensure our message resonates at both national and local levels. I believe this experience can help support the Trust’s visibility, storytelling, and engagement with a broader audience — particularly as it looks to grow and diversify its impact.
What do you hope to achieve as a trustee during your time with the Trust?
Through MKM’s partnership with the MKM Stadium, I’ve seen the power of collaboration between business, sport, and the community. As a trustee, I hope to build on that by strengthening ties between the Trust and local organisations, helping to unlock new opportunities for engagement and support. I want to use my role to help amplify the Trust’s message, raise awareness of its impact, and ensure it continues to thrive as a vital part of our region’s social fabric.
How do you see your role in helping the Trust grow or adapt in the coming years?
The Trust is already doing incredible work, but like any ambitious organisation, it will need to continue adapting to meet the evolving needs of the community. I see my role as helping the Trust think creatively and strategically about how it communicates, connects, and collaborates — particularly with local businesses and other supporters who share our values.
Are there particular areas of our work (youth engagement, education, sport, mental health) that you’re most passionate about?
As someone raising a family in Hull, I’m particularly passionate about youth engagement and mental health. I want to see young people in our city grow up with access to the right support, opportunities, and positive role models — and I know how vital that is not just for individuals, but for the wider community. The Tigers Trust plays a crucial role in creating safe, inspiring spaces where young people can thrive, and I’m proud to support that mission.
What are your interests away from work/Trustee?
Away from work, I love spending quality time with my family and friends. I enjoy playing sport and going to the gym — mostly to balance out my passion for cooking and discovering great food! I also really enjoy travelling whenever I get the chance, whether it’s exploring new places or revisiting favourite spots with the family.
We are delighted to have you on board Nicola!
