As part of the annual EFL Community Weekends, the Tigers Trust has nominated five Community Heroes who have made a huge difference to our local community.

This campaign highlights everyday heroes who work, volunteer, and engage in the community, each of whom has shown dedication to helping and inspiring others, improving lives, and fostering unity across Hull, East Yorkshire, and beyond.

The EFL Community Weekend campaign serves as a key moment in the season, where all 72 clubs in the EFL come together to celebrate the positive impact that clubs and their Community Heroes have on people's lives.

The Tigers Trust nominees are:

Sue Cracknell
George Dixon
Kasper Newby
Rob Johnson
Chelsie Johnson

As part of the Community Weekends celebration, these nominees was honoured on Wednesday 12th March, during Hull City's match against Oxford United at the MKM Stadium, where our heroes were presented with a commemorative pennant ahead of kick off.

Additionally, Hull City warmed up in special EFL Community Weekend shirts to mark the occasion.

Sue Cracknell

Sue has been nominated due to the countless hours she has volunteered for the Tigers Trust on our ‘Forever Tigers’ memorabilia and heritage project. Sue’s enthusiasm and willingness to help others has seen her become an incredibly popular staff member. She has built excellent relationships with residents in the care homes where regular sessions have taken place, with Sue demonstrating all Tigers Trust values in all that she does.

We are incredibly lucky to have such a passionate and caring volunteer supporting our projects and we are delighted to announce Sue as one of our Community Heroes!
George Dixon

George has made remarkable progress since he first became involved as a participant in a range of programs, including Premier League Kicks, Tigers Pathways, Tigers Together, and Street Soccer Academy. Over time, his dedication and commitment grew, and he completed an impressive 400+ hours of volunteering with the Tigers Trust.

This hard work and passion led to George securing a casual role, where he now actively supports community members, serving as a positive role model across various programs. Even with his new responsibilities, George continues to volunteer his time, contributing to the Tigers Trust's Boot Room initiative, whcih gives us the honour of announcing him as a true Community Hero.
Kasper Newby

Kasper’s journey with the Tigers Trust began in 2016 when he first joined the Premier League Kicks Disability sessions. At the start, he found it difficult to fully engage with the activities, but his determination and resilience have turned his story into something truly remarkable. Over time, Kasper has transformed into a confident and inspiring role model, not only overcoming his initial challenges but also becoming a source of motivation and support for others around him.

His commitment to the Trust is evident in the nearly 2,000 hours he has dedicated as a Match Ball Assistant at Hull City’s home games. This significant contribution has been just one aspect of his growth. Now, Kasper is seeking new opportunities to further his involvement with the Trust, exploring leadership roles within the sessions and continuing to inspire and empower fellow participants.
Rob Johnson

Rob joined the Tigers Trust a year ago, and in a remarkably short period, he quickly stepped into the pivotal role of Disability Lead. With his wealth of experience and expertise, Rob brought a fresh and valuable perspective to the team. Within just six months of assuming this responsibility, he has more than doubled the Trust’s disability provisions, significantly expanding the opportunities for inclusion and accessibility.

His dedication and vision have led to tangible improvements, making a profound impact on the lives of many within the community. Rob's ability to drive such meaningful change in such a short span of time has earned him recognition as one of our true community heroes. His efforts are nothing short of inspiring, and the difference he’s making in the work he does is felt deeply by all who benefit from his contributions.
