The Tigers Trust is delighted to announce a new collaboration with Bishop Burton College with the creation of an exciting and unique new programme focused on supporting young people to pursue a career within the sport industry.

The Level 1 qualification is designed to provide an understanding of key topics in Sport, whilst enabling students to improve their English and Maths. Through a dedicated sports pathway participants will be exposed to a range of sports concepts, including fitness testing, playing sports, an understanding of keeping active and healthy and employability skills. Delivered over three days, students will spend two days a week at the Tigers Trust Arena with ourselves and one day at the Bishop Burton campus just outside Beverley.

At the Tigers Trust we run an extensive and highly successful programme of community sports activities across the East Riding and Humber region. This qualification will add to our education offering alongside the existing USW Community Football Coaching & Development Degree. The intention is to provide a practical course that supports young people who have struggled with academic subjects at school, whilst allowing them to develop their passion and interest in sport, providing them with a route into a successful career.

Those who sign up to the programme will recieve a free Hull City Season Pass, a free Hull City training kit, and complimentary transport to Bishop Burton as a incentive to signing up to the course.

We will be hosting an open evening at the Tigers Trust Arena on 5.30pm-6.30pm on Tuesday 22nd August, which will allow our helpful staff members to answer all the queries you have whilst there is an exciting opportunity to take part in a football match, a chance to win Hull City prizes and enjoy free pizza!

Head of Programmes Richard Dexter said: “The Tigers Trust has enjoyed a great relationship with Bishop Burton for many years, through our outreach programmes and initiatives. We’re really pleased to be collaborating with the college on this fantastic qualification which will inspire and motivate young people. We hope this opportunity will help to remove barriers for them and raise their aspirations for the future, supporting them with a stepping stone to a rewarding and fulfilling career in the sports industry.”

The Level 1 Introductory Vocational Studies (Sport - Tigers Trust), will add to Bishop Burton’s existing Sport provision which includes courses from Level 1 introductory qualifications through to degree level programmes at the college’s University Centre. Students will be able to enjoy the facilities at the Tigers Trust Arena and access to our highly experienced team of sports professionals, with the support and backing of the Bishop Burton team on the academic elements of the course. Launching in September, applications can be made now via the Bishop Burton website and all students accepted onto the course will receive a free Hull City training kit, have access to Bishop Burton’s free transport network as well as the exclusive opportunity to obtain a Hull City season pass!

Director of General Further Education Rachel Richardson at Bishop Burton College said: “This new qualification represents a fresh and exciting approach to Level 1 sports learning and we’re delighted to be collaborating with the Tigers Trust. We have a strong tradition of excellent sports education at the college through our academic programmes and extra-curricular Sports Academies. It’s fantastic to add this new course to the range of opportunities available for students to embark on a career within the sports industry and it’s a pleasure to be working with such a highly respected and influential sports organisation.”
