Four weeks into the latest Tigers Pathways programme, participants are thriving - gaining confidence, developing new skills, and exploring future career paths in a supportive and inspiring environment. Take a look at what they’ve been up to.

Tigers Pathways – Exploring Opportunities is a free, six-week programme designed to support individuals through life transitions. It focuses on structured change, goal setting, action planning, building healthy lifestyles, and developing a positive mindset. With a strong emphasis on volunteering, the programme also offers guidance and support on the path to employment.

Week One: Building Bonds and Mindsets

The journey began with a focus on team bonding. A "Lost at Sea" activity served as the perfect icebreaker, helping participants work together and get to know one another in a relaxed, fun setting. The group then explored the power of mindset, delving into the "average of five" concept - highlighting how the people we surround ourselves with can significantly impact our personal and professional growth.
Participants reflected on their past experiences and shared times when they had to show resilience. These open conversations fostered trust and encouraged personal storytelling. Confidence began to grow as participants interacted more during a stadium tour, taking the opportunity to connect with peers.
Week Two: Setting Goals and Exploring New Environments

The second week focused on setting personal goals and developing structured plans to achieve them. Each participant created SMART targets Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound and mapped out a realistic action plan.

As part of expanding horizons, the group visited The Deep, one of Hull’s iconic attractions. This experience encouraged curiosity and team bonding in a new environment, giving participants the chance to explore together outside of the classroom.
Week Three: Career Focus and New Experiences

In week three, the focus turned to career development and skills building. Participants completed SWOT analyses (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) for each of their personal goals, helping them gain a better understanding of their capabilities and how these can align with future job roles. In the afternoon the group had a session at the Gold Range lead by staff member Paul who gave some one to one tips and advice on getting into golf and learning the sport.
Week Four: CV Building and the Labour Market

The group took part in a Hull Labour Market quiz, offering a factual insight into local employment statistics, unemployment rates, and the most accessible sectors in the region. This activity provided valuable context and broadened awareness of the real-world job landscape. The week also included a CV workshop, equipping participants with practical skills for job applications. To balance the career-focused sessions with fun and engaging activities, the group learnt a new skill by taking part in an exciting axe throwing session. These activities were fantastic for confidence-building, coordination, and peer encouragement. To round off the week, the group was inspired by a guest speaker session from George, a former participant who is now a valued member of staff. George shared his journey from programme attendee to professional, offering hope and motivation through his lived experience.

The group continues to thrive - bonding, supporting, and encouraging one another every step of the way. The Tigers Pathways programme is proving once again to be a powerful platform for growth, learning, and future success.
