We were thrilled to host the Premier League Kicks “Turn Up and Play” Tournament finals at the University of Hull yesterday.
Throughout our summer provision across the city, we have been running a series of free “turn up and play” football tournaments at some of our regular Premier League Kicks sessions. These sessions, open to School Years 5-8 and 9+, take place weekly at Malet Lambert, Sirius Academy West, Marvell College, and the University of Hull. Participants were placed into teams to compete for their place in the finals, which saw an impressive turnout.
On Tuesday 26th August, we were delighted to welcome the winners from each age group to represent their sessions in the finals at the University of Hull, held under glorious weather. Eight teams in total (four from each age group) - competed for the winners’ trophies.
In addition to the matches, each team took part in an engaging and interactive workshop on first aid and catastrophic bleeding, led by our expert staff members Garry and Rob. The young people enjoyed the practical session, gaining valuable life skills and confidence in handling emergency situations.
Outside, under the baking sun, participants played several exciting rounds of fixtures, demonstrating excellent teamwork, stunning team goals, and impressive defensive performances. The energy and spirit on the pitch were truly inspiring.
As the fixtures concluded, Hull City defender Ryan Giles joined us, taking time to meet all the teams before presenting medals to every participant and trophies to the winners: Malet Lambert for the Years 5-8 group and the University of Hull for Years 9+. There were also prizes awarded for the penalty shootout and crossbar challenges, which participants proudly took home as a memento of their hard work and achievements.
The day wrapped up with a fantastic photo opportunity with Ryan, much to the delight of everyone involved!
A huge thank you to Ryan for visiting and helping to make the event an even more memorable and special occasion for all.
Check out some of the best photos from an incredible day!
