Tigers Trust participants in Pocklington were treated to an unforgettable surprise last week when Hull City winger Liam Millar dropped in on a Tigers Trust Football Centre session.
His unexpected arrival brought an extra spark to an already energetic day of football in the sunshine, leaving young players inspired and buzzing with excitement. What began as a fun, fast paced session quickly became a standout moment of the day with his arrival.
The Tigers Trust delivers Football Centres across Hull and the Humber every half term, offering children a fun, inclusive and supportive environment to develop their game. Each session blends technical drills with small‑sided matches, helping players strengthen their dribbling, passing, teamwork and overall understanding of football. Coaches prioritise enjoyment and confidence, ensuring every child feels welcome, valued and motivated. The goal is simple: to build ability while nurturing a lifelong love for the sport.
Alongside the Football Centres, the Trust also runs Goalkeeper Development Sessions for children aged 7 to 12. These sessions focus on the core elements of goalkeeping, from shot‑stopping and positioning to communication and distribution. Young goalkeepers receive positive, constructive coaching designed to refine technique, build confidence and deepen their understanding of the role. With additional weekly sessions now available, even more children can get involved, challenge themselves and progress at a pace that suits them.
After last Wednesday’s session in Pocklington, the group were joined by Liam Millar for a lively Q&A session. The children were eager to hear from him, asking thoughtful questions about his journey into professional football, the challenges he faced along the way, and his ambitions for the future, including the dream of representing his country at a World Cup.
Liam spoke candidly about the dedication needed to reach the top level and encouraged the group to enjoy their football, work hard and believe in their abilities. His words clearly resonated, with many young players leaving the session feeling newly motivated and inspired.
The Tigers Trust would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Liam for taking the time to visit and for helping inspire the next generation of footballers.
