We were delighted to recently host the EFL Utilita Kids Cup local finals, welcoming eight enthusiastic primary schools from across the region, each vying for the opportunity to represent the Tigers at this year’s regional finals.
The event brought together talented young players, passionate school staff, and proud families, creating a brilliant atmosphere and showcasing the strength of football within our local community.
The EFL Utilita Kids Cup is one of the EFL’s flagship national competitions, designed to inspire the next generation of young footballers. Offering a pathway that stretches all the way to the iconic Wembley Stadium, the tournament provides pupils with the chance to experience a professional football environment while developing their teamwork, resilience, and love for the game. Over 16,000 children take part nationally each year, making it one of the largest junior football competitions in the country.
Open to pupils in Years 5 and 6, this seven-a-side tournament allows teams of nine players to rotate, ensuring all participants have the chance to contribute on the pitch. Local qualifying rounds were held throughout Hull and East Yorkshire over recent weeks, giving schools from across the area the chance to compete, grow in confidence, and earn their place at the local finals.
We were thrilled to welcome the successful qualifiers to our event: Burlington Junior School, Sutton Park Primary School, Elloughton Primary School, Bacon Garth Primary School, Molescroft Primary School, Kingswood Parks Primary School, Airmyn Park Primary School and Westfield Primary School. Every team displayed impressive skill levels, sportsmanship, and determination, creating a series of exciting fixtures enjoyed by all in attendance.
After a fantastic afternoon of high-quality football, the final saw Kingswood Parks Primary School emerge as worthy winners. Their performance throughout the tournament was outstanding, and they now progress to the regional stage, where they will proudly represent Tigers Trust and Hull City.
We wish them the very best of luck as they continue their journey. and a A huge well done to all teams involved, and thank you for your energy, commitment, and brilliant attitude throughout the competition.
