We’re proud to celebrate the fantastic achievements of participant Joel, who has been involved with our football programmes for over eight years.

Joel’s journey with Tigers Trust began in 2017 when, at just six years old, he attended one of our popular Birthday Party Packages. His special day included playing on the indoor astroturf at the Tigers Trust Arena, taking part in a Hull City stadium tour, and enjoying all the exciting activities included in the birthday experience - marking his first connection with the Trust.

After joining his first Sunday League football team, Joel wanted to further develop his skills. In 2019, he began attending our Saturday Morning Football Centres - weekly sessions that focus on learning different skill each week while providing a fun and engaging football experience. He immediately took to the sessions, connecting with the coaches and eagerly developing his skills and techniques.

Alongside this, Joel started attending the Tigers Trust Football Centres held during school holidays, running Monday to Friday. He has been a regular ever since, always enjoying the fun and relaxed environment. However, it was the competitive aspect he especially loved - often coming away with medals, prizes, and Player of the Week awards. These camps also gave him the chance to mix with children from different teams, boosting both his confidence and development.

Joel’s commitment and progress were recognised when he was invited to join the Skills Centre - an advanced programme for players who show strong technical ability. Led by UEFA and FA-qualified coaches, the Skills Centre offers a professional training environment and even provides opportunities to progress toward the Hull City Academy Pathway. For Joel, this experience included the exciting opportunity to trial with Hull City.

Now 14, Joel has reached the age limit for the paid football provision at Tigers Trust. Reflecting on his time, he shared
“I liked playing the mini-games on Saturday mornings - they were really good - and the competitions at the school holiday camps. I got to train with friends who played for different teams, and all the coaches and players were fantastic with me.”

Joel’s mum, Gail, encourages other parents to get involved:
“I would have no hesitation in recommending Tigers Trust to any parent. Joel has absolutely loved his years with them and has grown so much, thanks to the brilliant coaches who’ve supported his development and been part of his football journey. He leaves with so many happy memories as he moves on to his next football chapter.”

It’s been a pleasure watching Joel’s progression over the years.

If your child would like to follow in Joel’s footsteps, check out our Saturday Morning Football Centres and Football Centres - a great way to build skills, confidence, and friendships through football.
