Hello guest

Since Summer 2020, our team have been supporting members of the community by tackling loneliness with planned activities and support local people who are at risk of isolation through the Covid-19 pandemic. Due to 2021 starting with another National Lockdown, we want people to know that we are still here to support those that need us!

A recent study from the Office National Statistics (ONS) showed that 2.6 million adults reported that they felt lonely ”often” or ”always” whilst 7.4 million adults reported their well-being had been affected through them having felt lonely in the past seven days.

Thanks to funding from the EFL Trust, the Department of Digital Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) and additional funding from Yorkshire Builders Federation we are able to offer support to tackle loneliness through 2021 in Hull and East Riding.

We have employed two Tackling Loneliness Delivery Officers, and have a dozen volunteers ready to make a difference to elderly members of our community.

The support can take many forms, and the team have come up with an array of ideas to help, which include:

• Pen Pal Schemes
• Bingo
• Phone Calls
• Virtual Quizzes
• Arts and Crafts sessions
• Sport sessions
• Monday Memorabilia Zoom Calls
• Help with Shopping/Picking up essentials such as prescriptions

(Activities will be restricted at present due to Covid-19 but virtual quizzes, support phone calls and shopping support still available)

Who's this programme for?
Men and women over the age of 55 that feel isolated or feeling lonely.
