The Tigers Trust was proud to host the Premier League Primary Stars Girls-Only Tournament at the Tigers Trust Arena yesterday, where we were delighted to welcome four teams competing for a chance to represent Hull City at the regional finals.

The Premier League Primary Stars programme works in partnership with Primary Schools across Hull & East Riding to achieve physical, social and emotional wellbeing outcomes.

This six-a-side girls football tournament, designed for Year 5 and Year 6 girls, featured teams that advanced from local qualifiers held at Beverley Leisure Centre, Holderness Academy, and the University of Hull. These events saw Willerby Carr Lane Primary School, Elloughton Primary School, Bacon Garth Primary School, and Hymers College earn their places in yesterday’s exciting competition at the Tigers Trust Arena.

Each team fielded six players, with eight girls per squad participating in a league format. The games delivered plenty of thrilling, end-to-end action, including some brilliant counterattacking football. After an eventful afternoon, Hymers College U11 Girls emerged victorious, earning the honour of representing Hull City at the regional finals on Friday 14th February at the University Of Hull. There, they will face teams from Barnsley, Bradford, Doncaster, Grimsby, Huddersfield, Lincoln, Scunthorpe, and York. The top two teams from this stage will progress to the national tournament!

Congratulations to Hymers College! We wish you the very best in the next round.

Don’t forget to check out some of the highlights from the day!
