Hull City were proudly represented by Hymers College at this year’s Premier League Primary Stars National Girls Football Tournament, held at Wolverhampton Wanderers FC’s Molineux Stadium on Thursday 12th June.

The National Girls Football Tournament is one of the competition elements of the Premier League Primary Stars programme.

Premier League Primary Stars is the Premier League's primary school education programme. Funded by the Premier League, through the Premier League Charitable Fund, the programme uses the appeal of football to help children to be active and develop essential life skills.

Hymers College made fantastic progress in the competition, advancing from the local qualifiers to the local finals, and then triumphing in the regional finals. In a thrilling climax to the regional stage, Hull City faced Huddersfield in an end-to-end match filled with remarkable saves from both goalkeepers. After a draw in regular time, the match was decided by a tense penalty shootout, where Hull City emerged victorious - lifting the Premier League Primary Stars Girls Regional Finals trophy and securing their place in the National Finals at Molineux alongside Huddersfield Town.

Thousands of girls representing over 100 professional football clubs from across England and Wales competed in this year’s tournament, all vying for the chance to represent their clubs on the national stage. The teams that reached the final, already triumphed at the regional stages and had the incredible opportunity to play at Molineux Stadium, wearing the official kit of their affiliated professional clubs, despite the team’s best efforts on the day they were unable to make it out of the group stages which eventually saw National League Side Altrincham emerge as winners in the final.

This tournament offered a once-in-a-lifetime experience: the chance to play on a Premier League pitch and compete under the watchful eye of Premier League and Women’s Super League match officials, a day each player will never forget.

Speaking about the event, Primary Education Manager Conrad Arnott said: “I'm proud to see the development of the Hymers team throughout all stages of the competition—from the local qualifiers and finals to the regional stages, which we hosted. The players have grown tremendously in both skill and confidence. A standout moment was Ella in goal—who had never played in that position before the competition—saving two penalties in the regional final to help her team advance. We're proud of the girls’ efforts for representing us at a national tournament, a real highlight moment for the Tigers Trust.”
