We were thrilled to welcome Hull City legend David Meyler to the Tigers Trust Arena last week, where he surprised our BTEC students during their training session.
Our BTEC Level 2 and Level 3 Sport courses, launched in September in partnership with League Football Education, have attracted an incredible group of young people passionate about sport, coaching, and fitness.
A key feature of these courses is the opportunity to take part in weekly fixtures against teams both regionally and nationally. During one of these regular training sessions, our students were delighted to be joined by David Meyler,a moment they’ll never forget.
David shared valuable advice on improving performance across the pitch and even joined in with the warm-up drills. He then took part in the match itself, lining up alongside our students and getting involved in the action.
After the game, David took part in a Q&A session, offering insights on how to develop as players and what it meant to represent the Tigers. We also celebrated Brayden, who was presented with the BTEC November Player of the Month award for his outstanding performances.
Reflecting on the day, BTEC Head Coach Marc Daddy said:
“It was fantastic to hear David’s stories and see him give our students advice that will help them in their sporting journeys.”
We’re incredibly grateful to David for taking time out of his schedule to visit us, a gesture that meant so much to our students.
David commented:
“It was great to be invited down to the Arena to see the brilliant work Tigers Trust is doing. All the players looked to be enjoying themselves, and as the session wrapped up, I thought to myself, well done to everyone involved. The staff have created a safe, enjoyable environment for players to develop and become better.”
A huge thank you to David for making this day so special!
We are now recruiting for the 2026/26 academic year. Find out more about our BTEC programme by clicking here to see how you can get involved.
