As we mark the halfway point of EFL Week of Action, we are delighted to highlight our recently introduced Empowering Futures programme, working with pupils who require support with their behaviour through a 10-week programme, offering a different topic each week.

The programme focuses on developing essential life skills such as employability, resilience, discipline, consistency, taking responsibility, and encouraging students to apply these skills in practical ways.

At the end of the 10 weeks, students have the opportunity to participate in a special away day, featuring a variety of exciting activities including teamwork challenges, sports, and a tour of the MKM Stadium.

We have been working alongside both Sirius Academy West and Liberty Academy through this programme in recent weeks. The journey began with social skills and relationship building, followed by organisation and cooking, understanding and managing emotions, and concluded with mindset training and reflection through a range of engaging tasks.

During our recent visits to Liberty Academy, we captured our students in action cooking burgers, which they planned and prepared the week before. They also explored emotional regulation using fizzy drinks and took part in games like Jenga and stacking playing cards, which demonstrate how things build up and how you can control how you feel when things go wrong.

Assistant Vice Principal Eleanor Fiarbank commented on the impact of the programme:

"Amelia’s delivery of the Empowering Futures programme has had an incredible impact on our students. Through her dedicated support with our students, we have seen noticeable improvements in their behaviour across the school, fostering a more positive and respectful learning environment.

Beyond this, Amelia’s influence has also extended to students’ punctuality and attendance, with many becoming more motivated and engaged in their education as a direct result of her work. Her approachable manner, consistency, and genuine commitment to the wellbeing and success of our young people have made a real difference. We’ve seen our young people grow in confidence, take greater responsibility for their actions, and show renewed enthusiasm for their education.

We couldn’t be more grateful for the positive difference Amelia has made. Her work continues to have a lasting impact on both our students and the wider school community."

If your school would be interested in partnering with us through this programme, please email [email protected] to discuss how we can support children at your school.
