EFL Week Of Action 2024: Former Hull City players Dennis Booth & John Hawley take part in Disability Walking Football Session.

Today was the third day of our EFL Week of Action, and we aimed to surprise our regular Disability Walking Football attendees with something special.
This morning featured our weekly Disability Walking Football session, held every Wednesday from 10 to 11am. These inclusive sessions are specifically designed for individuals aged 18 and over with additional needs or disabilities.
As the name suggests, Disability Walking Football is a modified version of the traditional game where players walk instead of run. This creates a more relaxed and less physically demanding experience. The popularity of the programme is evident, with over 30 attendees each week since its introduction in April.
Today's session was particularly special as we welcomed former Hull City players Dennis Booth and John Hawley, along with members of the Hull City staff. Their visit brought excitement to the group as they interacted with participants and joined in with the teams during the matches, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
Following the session, the group gathered in our café area for the usual post-game routine of hot drinks and biscuits. However, this week featured an added treat: a fantastic exhibition from our ‘Forever Tigers’ memorabilia project, supported by the Premier League Fans Fund. The display included iconic shirts worn by Hull City legends, an array of collected match programmes, and unique collector’s items.
To conclude the day, participants took part in a Christmas-themed competition inspired by the memorabilia collection. Each person designed their own Hull City-themed Christmas card based off retro programmes and shirts, with the winner set to receive a special prize soon.
A huge thank you to Dennis, John, and the Hull City staff for visiting and engaging with our session. Your support made this a truly memorable occasion!
