As part of Black History Month, the Tigers Trust proudly hosted a powerful Show Racism the Red Card event at the Tigers Trust Arena, an inspiring day of education, reflection, and raising awareness about the harmful impact of racism through the power of football

Show Racism the Red Card is the UK’s leading anti-racism educational charity. It uses the power of football and the influence of players to challenge racism and promote inclusion. Through engaging workshops, the charity empowers young people to understand and stand up against discrimination in all its forms.

We were delighted to be joined by 100 pupils from three of our Premier League Primary Stars partner primary schools: St Nicholas Primary School, Adelaide Primary School, and Paisley Primary School. The day was filled with meaningful learning experiences.

Throughout the day, students took part in interactive sessions exploring key topics such as online abuse, discrimination, and the importance of equality. These workshops encouraged open discussion and critical thinking, helping to build a more inclusive future.

In addition to the workshops, each group enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the MKM Stadium. They explored the tunnel, dugouts, pitchside, and the home dressing room, where students took part in an engaging activity celebrating Black role model and learning about influential figures who have shaped history and inspired positive change.

The highlight of the day came in the afternoon when Hull City’s Cody Drameh and Pharrell Brown made a surprise appearance. The players joined a lively Q&A session with our students, sharing their personal experiences, discussing the importance of inclusion in football, and answering questions about their time with the Tigers. They then spent time signing autographs and taking photos, creating unforgettable memories for the young people.

Conrad Arnott, Primary Education Manager at Tigers Trust, commented on the event:

“We were delighted to host this event in partnership with the fantastic team at Show Racism the Red Card. A huge thank you to Hull City’s Cody Drameh and Pharrell Brown for taking the time to support the day, and to our Premier League Primary Stars partner schools Adelaide, Paisley, and St Nicholas for joining us.

It was brilliant to see how engaged the children were throughout the workshops on such an important topic. They left not only with a deeper understanding of equality and respect but also inspired by the power of football to bring people together.”

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a wonderful event!
