During this academic year, we have worked closely with Neasden Primary School on our Premier League Primary Stars to provide classroom support and PE delivery to a range of different classes.

When we were working with Miss Williamsons year 1 class at the school, we came across a student called Calvin who caught our attention during the last academic year.

The Premier League Primary Stars programme is working in partnership with Primary Schools across Hull and East Riding to achieve physical, social and emotional wellbeing outcomes.

Calvin stood out to us because he was really welcoming and would often come and talk to us about various topics. He would also ask us if we could help him with his school work. As time progressed, Calvin started to sign up for after school clubs that the Trust hosted.

When we asked Calvin his thoughts on working with the Tigers Trust he said, "I like when Ryan comes in because he laughs at my jokes" and I think he's really good, I especially liked when he taught me how to run better and faster and play new ball games because I can catch and throw so good now. I hope he comes back to teach me again".

We feel that the biggest impact we had whilst working with Calvin was helping grow his confidence. He was always confident when speaking to people, but he used to struggle with coming up to the front of the class to help with things such as demonstrations. At the end of the year, he demonstrated how far his confidence grew when he came up to the front in an assembly to help us explain an activity. We are proud of how far he has come in that area of his confidence.

Calvin's teacher, Miss Williamson, said this about his progress. “Calvin has made fantastic progress in PE this term, thanks to the incredible support and encouragement from Ryan at Tigers Trust. His confidence has grown immensely, and he now participates with enthusiasm and determination in every session. Whether it's teamwork, coordination, or resilience, Calvin continues to shine and embrace new challenges. It’s been wonderful to see him develop a genuine love for being active and a strong sense of pride in his achievements. We are so grateful for the opportunities Tigers Trust has helped create".

We look forward to working with Calvin next year when he is in year 2 and hope we can continue to have a positive impact and working relationship with him.

Well done and keep up the good work Calvin!
