On Thursday 14th August, young footballers at South Hunsley School had a day to remember as Hull City goalkeepers Ivor Pandur and Dillon Phillips visited our Goalkeeper Development session and Kellogg’s Football Camps. The visit offered children a unique opportunity to learn from professional players and gain insights into what it takes to play in the professional game.
This summer, our Kellogg’s Football Camps have been running across Hull and East Yorkshire, welcoming children aged 5-12. The camps are designed to provide every young player- whether they have played football before or trying the game for the first time - with the chance to develop essential football skills in a fun, supportive environment. Each day is packed with different activities that focus on various aspects of the game, from dribbling and passing to teamwork and tactical awareness, all guided by experienced coaches who encourage and motivate every participant.
As part of an extended programme, the Goalkeeper Development sessions run weekly for children aged 7-12. These sessions focus on key goalkeeping skills such as shot-stopping, passing, positioning, and communication. Designed to be engaging and confidence-boosting, the sessions allow young goalkeepers to improve their abilities while enjoying the process of learning and growing within the sport.
The visit from Ivor Pandur and Dillon Phillips brought an extra layer of excitement and inspiration to our Goalkeeper Development sessions. To the delight of the children, Ivor and Dillon surprised everyone by bringing a collection of their match worn gloves, which they signed and handed out to the young players. The professional goalkeepers also observed the participants in action, offering practical tips and constructive feedback to help refine their technique.
A particular highlight of the day was the Q&A session, where we brought all children in the group together who eagerly asked questions about the players’ careers, their journey to professional football, and their most memorable moments on the pitch. The session offered invaluable insight into the life of a professional athlete and motivated the young goalkeepers to continue developing their skills with determination. The day concluded with group and individual photos with Ivor and Dillon, creating great memories for all involved.
We extend a huge thank you to Hull City for making this visit possible, and to Ivor Pandur and Dillon Phillips for taking the time to inspire and educate the next generation of goalkeepers. Events like this highlight the importance of supporting young talent and giving children experiences that encourage both personal and sporting growth.
A huge thank you to Hull City, and to Ivor and Dillon, for giving our young people such an inspiring experience.
