A Day to Remember for Louie
Posted on 27th August 2024 at 16:03
Louie, aged 12, attends the Tigers Trust’s Wednesday evening Premier League Kicks Inclusive disability sessions at either Winifred Holtby or Northcott School and has been engaged with us for over 27 hours across 18 sessions.
Despite using a wheelchair and living with Quad Cerebral Palsy, Louie loves playing football and doesn't let anything stop him from enjoying the game he loves. Whether he's playing as a striker, scoring goals, and celebrating with his favourite moves, or standing in goal and celebrating every save as if he had scored a goal himself, Louie brings his passion and energy to every moment!
When Louie first started attending the sessions, he was very shy and only spoke to his carer if he needed something or had a question. Over the weeks, however, he has come out of his shell, revealing a wonderful personality and a cheeky sense of humour, even giving the staff funny nicknames. A huge Hull City fan, Louie loves chatting with others about the matches he has seen over the weekend, and he always gives every sport a go, from Frisbee golf to balloon tennis.
Louie had an amazing opportunity to be a mascot for Hull City vs Millwall on Saturday 24th August. He, along with his mum and dad, had a fantastic day that started with receiving a new Hull City kit and a mini tour around the stadium. Full of questions for the stadium staff, Louie enthusiastically handed out high fives to everyone. He then got to meet and greet the players, collect their autographs, and ask them questions, including his memorable question to Hull City’s Regan Slater: "Are you staying for the game?" to which Regan jokingly replied, "I might stay for the full game!" Louie then took a proud lap of honour around the pitch, waving to all the fans. His big moment came when he proudly led Hull City onto the pitch, accompanying his favourite player which was club captain, Lewie Coyle, while shaking hands and high-fiving all the players and match officials, and posing for the official match photos. The smile never left Louie’s face—he had the most amazing day!
Reflecting on the experience, Louie’s parents said, “I just wanted to say a huge thank you for today. Honestly, it was just amazing. Louie has had the BEST day, and I mean the BEST! And that’s because of the Tigers Trust. What an experience for him—he thoroughly enjoyed it, as did Phil and I, please pass our thanks to the Tigers Trust staff members. It will be a day Louie never forgets.”
Check out the best moments from Louie's Day!
