There are two key elements to this project, the first is to provide an opportunity for people suffering with mental illness to come together and take part in positive physical activity. The second is to raise awareness of the Time to Change campaign to end the stigma and discrimination faced by those suffering with mental illness.
For the practical sessions, we aim to provide an environment that is friendly, understanding and encouraging. The football club atmosphere will provide participants with a regular opportunity to achieve their personal goals:
We would welcome anyone over the age 16 to get involved regardless of ability, ethnicity or gender, and whether they suffer with mental illness or not. The weekly activities take place every Tuesday, 1pm-3pm at the KC Stadium astroturf pitches. Currently the sessions involve football training, coaching and competition.
The project was initially funded for 2-years, the project currently maintains the practical sessions through participation fees. New players can attend the FIRST SESSION FREE!
Costs: £3 per session | £40 for 15 sessions | £75 for 30 sessions
