Our project:
The background
The project, started in 2006 by the Premier League, Metropolitan Police and Football Foundation, has had a remarkable year. From its modest beginning, when only four pilot projects existed, Kickz now spans the entire country taking in 39 professional football clubs and over 100 projects. With an initial ambitious aim to engage 12,000 young people aged between 12-18 years, Kickz has outstripped all expectations and successfully involved over 28,000 – each for an average of 58 hours and many for well in advance of 100.
Its vision is a simple, yet abundantly clear one. Using the power of football and appeal of professional football Club brands to engage young people who may otherwise be difficult to reach, the Kickz vision is ‘to target some of the most disadvantaged areas of the country in order to create safer, stronger, more respectful communities through the development of young peoples’ potential.
Last year, Kickz gained recognition for its fantastic progress by winning the ‘Best Community Programme’ at the prestigious Sports Industry Awards.
We have a lot live up to; however, we are confident that Kickz will be a huge success here in Hull.
