Entry 2 Employment

This is an opportunity for young people currently not in employment, education or training (NEET’s) to re-focus on their future.

We hope to create football coaches that will support the development of grassroots football in our community!

Our Entry to Employment programme combines structured qualifications and flexible training intended to develop the learner’s social skills. We aim to up-skill and motivate learners and encourage them to apply for further education or find employment.

The learners will leave our 22 week programme with the following:

  • FA Coaching Award (NVQ Level 1)
  • Literacy and Numeracy Level 1 
  • An improved Curriculum Vitae 
  • Reference for employment 
  • Improved interview skills 
  • Work experience in a community setting

On receipt of an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check, the learners will have the opportunity to shadow our experienced community coaches. This means they receive individual learning and a chance to develop their leadership skills, having gradually built up their confidence.

The scheme runs in partnership with Hull College. Now in our second year, our method of teaching is proving to be a real success. Sixty learners have benefitted and we have seen over 80% leaving with a positive outcome.

They see it as an opportunity to learn realistic qualifications in a sports background whilst in an informal setting. It is a great link between re-engaging learners and employment.”

Damien Morrison took part in 2009. He is now working with us on a full-time basis.
“Before the Entry 2 Employment course I was on a Hull College course doing Public Services. The reason I joined the course was because this course suited my ambitions more. After this course I am looking to be a fully qualified level 1 coach. The scheme has had a massive impact on my life. It has made me a better person and given me greater confidence.”
