Coaching for Hope uses football as a tool to communicate social messages around HIV/aids awareness and substance abuse in some of the poorest countries in the world. Professional coaches from UK Clubs deliver an accredited Coaching for Hope qualification to community leaders. These leaders will then be equipped to inform vulnerable children and young people residing in local orphanages as well as educating other youth workers on how to combine football sessions with the key messages.

The Tigers Sport and Education Trust have being supporting this project for five years. We have sent a number of coaches over to Burkina Faso, Mali and South Africa. Mike Richardson was one of the first to experience the vast differences in life when he visited Burkina Faso, officially the second poorest country in the world.

Shortly after this visit, an opportunity arose for Mike to get more involved. It was an opportunity he didn’t have to think twice about. Mike is now the Coaching for Hope UK Programme Manager. He works closely with us, Brighton and Hove Albion, Queens Park Rangers and the Spurs Foundation to develop potential volunteers and raise funds for various projects.

Although the majority of work is done in Africa, we are hoping to deliver the social messages around HIV/aids awareness and substance abuse to local people. The plan is currently under development. We will keep you updated on progress.
